I hope this is not true.
One of my buddies at the dog park (responsible owners...YAY!) has someone on the "in" with the provincial government. Apparently there may be a NEW dog legislation in the works that states all large breeds (Over 50 lbs) will be required to be muzzled in public.
All those in favour of the pit bull ban, your beloved labs and goldens may have to be muzzled too...
If this happens, I am leaving this province for good.

Rescue Group Answering Machine - Author unknown
"Hello: You have reached 123-4567, Tender Hearts Animal Rescue. Due to the high volume of calls we have been receiving, please listen closely to the following options and choose the one that best describes you or your situation":
Press 1 if you want free veterinary advice.
Press 2 if you know we are not actually trained veterinarians, but want to save money and have us give you free, untrained medical advice anyway.
Press 3 if you have a 10-year-old dog or cat and your 15-year-old son/daughter?, wife/husband? has suddenly become allergic and you need to find the dog a new home right away.
Press 4 if you have dogs or cats, just had a baby and want to get rid of your dogs/ cats because you are the only person in the world to have a baby and dogs or cat at the same time!
Press 5 if your dog or cat is sick and needs to see a vet, but you need the money because you are going on vacation soon.
Press 6 if you just got a brand new puppy or kitten and your old dog or cat is having problems adjusting so you want to get rid of the old one right away.
Press 7 if your little puppy or kitten has grown up and is no longer cute and small.
Press 8 if you are an elderly person and want to adopt a "cute puppy or kitten who is not active and is going to outlive you"
Press 9 if your relative has suddenly died and you can't care for their elderly dog or cat - not even temporarily while YOU try to find him or her a good home, because it will cramp your lifestyle.
Press 10 if you are moving today and need to immediately place your 150-pound, 8-year-old dog.
Press 11 if you want an unpaid volunteer to come to your home today and pick up the dog or cat you no longer want.
Press 12 if you have been feeding and caring for a "stray" for the last three years, are moving and suddenly determine it's not your dog or cat.
Press 13 to leave us an anonymous garbled message, letting us know you have left a dog/cat outside in our yard in the middle of January, (which is in fact, better than just leaving the dog/cat without a message).
Press 14 if you are going to get angry because we are not able to take your dog or cat that you have had for fifteen years, because we have run out of room, (not to mention that it is not our responsibility!).
Press 15 if you are going to threaten to take your ten year old dog or cat to be euthanized because we can't take them in.
Press 16 if you would like one of our "perfectly trained, housebroken, kid-friendly, cat-friendly, purebred tiny dogs who do not shed", that we have an abundance of!!
Press 17 if you want us to take your dog that has a slight aggression problem, i.e. has only bitten a few people and killed your neighbor's cat.
Press 18 if you have already called once and didn't like what we told you, but thought when you called back this time you would get a different person with a different answer.
Press 19 if you want us to use the shelter space that would go to helping a stray, so that you can board your own dog while you are on vacation, (free of charge, of course).
Press 20 if you have bought your children a duckling, (baby chick or baby bunny) for Easter, but now it's July and they're bored of that animal.
Press 21 if you want us to take your female dog or cat who has already had several litters, but you can't spay her now because she is pregnant again, and that would be against your religion!!
Press 22 if your cat is biting and not using the litter box because she has been declawed, (by YOU), but are not willing to accept the responsibility that the cat's behavior was altered because of your decision to have him or her declawed.
Press 23 if your two-year-old male dog is marking all over your house but you "just haven't gotten around" to having him neutered.
Press 24 if you have an outdoor-only dog or cat and are calling because you suspect that she is suddenly pregnant.
Press 25 if you have done "everything" to housebreak your dog but had no success, yet you don't want to crate the dog because it is "cruel".
Press 26 if your new"love" doesn't like your dog or cat (and you are too stupid to get rid of this new friend, who will dump you very soon anyway).
Press 27 if you went through all these 'options' and didn't hear enough!
This will connect you to the sounds of tears being shed by one of our volunteers who is holding a discarded old dog or cat while the vet mercifully frees him from of the grief of missing his family.

They caught the fucking asshole who tortured Mercy!
Article: A man was arrested early Thursday in connection with the torture of a puppy who was found severely burned on Good Friday.
The dog later died.
Dallas police arrested Deshawn Brown, 21, at his mother's home in the Denton County community of Corinth shortly before 1 a.m. He faces several charges, including cruelty to an animal.
"All the personnel involved with this are quite relieved to have this gentleman in custody, based on the extreme cruelty of this crime" said Dallas police spokesman Sgt. Robert Patterson.
Brown was being held at the Lew Sterrett Justice Center in Dallas.
Mercy, a 10-month-old pit bull mix, had been doused with gasoline and set on fire. She was rescued on Good Friday, but she was unable to survive the extensive stab wounds and burns that covered 60 percent of her body.
Mercy died over the weekend. A memorial service was scheduled for Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Operation Kindness shelter, 3201 Earhart Drive in Carrollton.
Hopefully he won't just get a slap on the wrist.

Rest in Peace sweet girl. For a little while at least, you were loved by your caregivers.
Those who hurt you will burn in hell.
I'm actually crying about this. Poor poor baby.

Another animal abuse case.
This beautiful pit in Dallas TX was dragged, stabbed and burned so badly you can see her muscle through the burn patches of skin. The article is Here She was taken to Operation Kindness - a no-kill shelter who are trying to rehabilitate this poor girl back to health.
Here's some (graphic, and quite upsetting) pictures of her condition as well as a link to donate.
Spread the word about this sweet girl.

10 Reasons Why Gay Marriage is Wrong:
1) Being gay is not natural. Real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and air conditioning.
2) Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.
3) Gay marriage will change the foundation of society; we could never adapt to new social norms. Just like we haven't adapted to cars, the service-sector economy, or longer life spans.
4) Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn't changed at all; women are still property, blacks still can't marry whites, and divorce is still illegal.
5) Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage were allowed; the sanctity of Brittany Spears' 55-hour just-for-fun marriage would be destroyed.
6) Straight marriages are valid because they produce children. Gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn't be allowed to marry because our orphanages aren't full yet, and the world needs more children.
7) Obviously gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.
8) Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That's why we have only one religion in America.
9) Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That's why we as a society expressly forbid single parents to raise children.
10) Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.
(one of the saddest parts about our society is that these arguments, before the humorous common sense, are the real reasons why people can't accept gay marriages.)
REPOST THIS IF YOU BELIEVE THAT GAY MARRIAGE SHOULD BE LEGAL
(I know it's legal in Canada, but it may change in the Conservatives have their way)

Mooie was a pit bull who met a cruel untimely death.
80% of her body was burned after some psycho submersed her body in acid. In a desperate attempt to clean herself of the liquid eating away at her flesh, she tried to lick it off, burning her tongue and mouth.
There was nothing they could do to save her. She was in immense pain.
Please don't allow her death to go unnoticed...please e-mail CNN to get her story aired in hopes of bringing this beautiful puppy justice. Maybe this will get some leads to the sick fuck who murdered her.
You can follow this link. It offers other links (like to CNN to request broadcast of the case and to the local news article of the event)... However, the pictures are disturbing and graphic; so please be careful if you do open the link. http://www.pasadosafehaven.org/CRUELTY%20NEWS/Puppy_Acid.htm
If you'd like to avoid the pictures, here is the news story: http://archives.seattletimes.nwsource.com/cgi-bin/texis.cgi/web/vortex/display?slug=aciddog19m&date=20060319&query=puppy
Here is a link to CNN to send your request: http://www.cnn.com/feedback/forms/form11.html?1
You can also email NBC nightly news at nightly@nbc.com and send the same request.
If you can, please help bring this puppy peace.

I hate unions. That's right, I've decided that I absolutely 100% LOATHE Unions. Why? Let me tell you. Unions are responsible for bargaining about YOUR job. YOu may not agree with a decision to go on strike, but you have to because the union says so. Okay, true the choice is yours...but most union workers are terrified of becoming a "scab" so the ones who do actually want to work are sort of screwed. If someone crosses the picket line and then one day gets into a situation where they need that union to help them out, the union could very well be like "meh...you turned your back on us, we turn our backs on you."
GET THE FUCK BACK TO WORK!
Unions are there to protect employees...fuck all the innocent victims of this who spend A LOT OF MONEY to get an education.
God I'm so pissed off I'm not even making sense.
